Overview

What Aurora Signal actually is

Aurora Signal is a custom-built visual analytics layer for the TradingView platform. It is not a bot, not an automated system, and not a decision-making service. It is a piece of Pine Script code that renders additional information on top of the standard price chart — nothing more, nothing less.

The tool is the codified version of long-term manual observation of how price reacts around specific structural zones: prior-session highs and lows, cumulative volume nodes, imbalance areas, and points where large resting orders repeatedly appear. Aurora Signal draws these zones automatically so the user does not need to mark them by hand.

01

Structural zones

Horizontal areas where price has previously reacted with unusual volume, filtered through a modified fractal detection algorithm.

02

Liquidity pockets

Clusters where resting orders have historically accumulated, rendered as coloured bands with direction and strength encoded visually.

03

Momentum shifts

Small triangle markers appear when a modified Chande Momentum Oscillator crossover coincides with a Layer 1 or Layer 2 event.

None of these layers are predictive. They are descriptive. They describe what has already happened on the chart and let the user form their own interpretation of what it might mean.

Technical overview

How it works under the hood

Aurora Signal is written in Pine Script v5, the native scripting language of the TradingView platform. It runs entirely inside your TradingView account — no external servers, no data transmission, no account access required.

01

Layer 1 — Structural Memory Engine

A rolling buffer of the last 500 bars plus a modified fractal detection filter identifies swing points: local extremum within a ±5 bar window, volume exceeding the 20-period average by a configurable multiplier, and no identical extremum within the prior 30 bars. Qualifying points become horizontal zones with opacity proportional to statistical weight.

02

Layer 2 — Liquidity Cluster Detection

For each bar the script calculates a proxy for order-flow imbalance from the relationship between (high − close) and (close − low) weighted by relative volume. Sustained one-directional clusters are grouped and rendered as coloured bands: colour encodes direction, width encodes strength.

03

Layer 3 — Momentum Shift Markers

A modified Chande Momentum Oscillator on a 14-period window fires when it crosses predefined thresholds and the crossover coincides with a Layer 1 or Layer 2 event. A small triangle is drawn on the chart — purely informational; it does not open, close, or manage any position.

Simplified pseudocode

// Aurora Signal — condensed structural layer
for bar in rolling_window(500):
    if is_local_extremum(bar, window=5)
       and volume(bar) > 1.8 * sma(volume, 20)
       and no_extremum_within(bar, lookback=30):
           draw_zone(price=bar.price,
                     weight=volume_score(bar),
                     opacity=proportional)

Who this tool is for — and who it isn't

Designed for people who…

  • Already analyse charts and want an additional visual layer to speed up manual review
  • Study market microstructure and want a working example of codified liquidity concepts
  • Prefer educational tools that show data rather than make decisions
  • Want to learn Pine Script by examining a real, non-trivial codebase

Not designed for people who…

  • Are looking for automated buy/sell signals to follow without independent analysis
  • Expect any tool to produce guaranteed outcomes
  • Have no prior familiarity with reading price charts
  • Want a "set and forget" solution — the tool requires active interpretation

If you fall into the second category, we respectfully ask you not to request access. The tool will not do what you expect it to do.

Methodology

The research process behind Aurora Signal

The methodology encoded in the script is the result of seven years of manual observation of how price behaves around specific structural events.

Phase 1 (Years 1–2) · Manual observation

Roughly 12,000 chart events annotated by hand, each recording the structural event, its context, and subsequent price behaviour.

Phase 2 (Years 3–4) · Pattern extraction

Three recurring configuration families identified — the same three that now form the visual layers of Aurora Signal.

Phase 3 (Years 5–6) · Prototyping

Rules validated mechanically in spreadsheet models and Python notebooks to check they held up without human judgement.

Phase 4 (Year 7) · Pine Script implementation

Stable rules rewritten in Pine Script for TradingView — released publicly as Aurora Signal v5.2.

Comparison

How Aurora Signal differs from other indicators

Aurora Signal sits deliberately between simple technical overlays and proprietary "black box" indicators — combining volume-weighted structural analysis, order-flow imbalance approximation, and momentum confirmation into a single transparent visual system.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Aurora Signal work on all instruments?

The script is instrument-agnostic. It has been tested on major indices, foreign exchange pairs, commodities, individual equities, and digital assets. Behaviour on very illiquid instruments (average daily volume below 100 units) may be unreliable because the volume-based layers require a meaningful volume signal.

What timeframes are supported?

All standard TradingView timeframes from 1 minute to 1 month. The tool is most informative on timeframes between 15 minutes and 4 hours, where the balance between signal frequency and noise is optimal for most instruments.

Does the indicator repaint?

Layers 1 and 2 use only closed-bar data and do not repaint. Layer 3 markers appear on bar close and remain in place permanently. The tool is designed specifically to avoid the repainting problem that affects many public indicators.

Can I share the script with a friend?

The script is licensed for personal educational use per user. Each person interested in access should follow the same process — follow the X account and request an invite. This is not a copy-protection measure — it is how we track approximate user counts for our own feedback purposes.

Will you release updates?

The current version (v5.2) is considered stable. Minor updates addressing edge cases are pushed roughly once per quarter. Users with active access receive updates automatically through TradingView's standard script-update mechanism.

Is there a mobile version?

The script runs on TradingView's mobile applications for iOS and Android with no modification. Some visual layers are compressed on smaller screens; this is a limitation of screen real estate, not the script.

Do you collect any data from users?

No. The script executes entirely inside your TradingView environment. We have no access to your charts, your account, your watchlists, or any other information. The only interaction between us and you is (1) you following the X account and (2) the invite link we send you.

Why does this page ask me to follow an X account?

X (formerly Twitter) is the primary channel through which the author publishes research notes, methodology explanations, and updates about the tool. Following the account is the mechanism by which we confirm that a request for access comes from a real person interested in the material, rather than an automated scraper. There is no other reason for the follow requirement.

Is this legal in my country?

Aurora Signal is a piece of educational software that draws lines on a chart. It does not execute any transactions, does not connect to any brokerage, and does not handle any funds. It falls into the same regulatory category as a spreadsheet or a graphing calculator. That said, the responsibility for compliance with local laws regarding the use of any analytical tool rests entirely with the user.

Can I modify the parameters?

Yes. Every threshold in the script is exposed as a user-editable input inside the TradingView indicator settings panel. You can adjust the volume multiplier, the fractal window, the CMO thresholds, and the visual density of each layer independently.

Responsible use

Please read before requesting access

Aurora Signal is a tool. Like any tool, its usefulness depends entirely on how it is used. We ask users to keep the following in mind:

No indicator predicts the future

Any tool that claims to do so is either misleading you or misunderstanding its own mechanics. Aurora Signal describes historical structure; interpretation of that structure is the user's responsibility.

Past patterns do not repeat identically

Markets evolve, participants change, and configurations that were meaningful in one period may lose relevance in another. Continuous critical evaluation of any analytical framework is essential.

Consider your circumstances

Educational tools of this kind are appropriate for people who have the time, knowledge, and disposable resources to engage with financial markets responsibly. If any of those three conditions is not met for you, consult a licensed professional in your jurisdiction before using this or any similar tool.

Do not treat markers as instructions

A triangle on a chart is not a directive. It is a data point among many. Any decision based on a single data point is unlikely to produce consistent results over time.

Important. Aurora Signal is an educational tool. It does not provide financial advice or recommendations. Past patterns do not guarantee future results. Use responsibly and in accordance with the laws of your jurisdiction.
